Provider scale and specialisation do not determine the answer. Compare the actual product, application dependencies and available operating team.
Specialist GPU clouds and hyperscalers are useful orientation categories but too broad for a final decision. Each company offers several products and management layers. The task determines the choice, not a category label.
Current to 1 November 2026, this editorial comparison uses five official starting points without independent benchmarks, universal winners or affiliate-based inclusion.
How categories are compared
Criteria are resource format, model requirements, application dependencies and team work. Specialisation may simplify finding a GPU product; a broad ecosystem may help existing infrastructure. Test both propositions in the project rather than treating them as guarantees.
Device price is not complete service cost. Include storage, network, observability, access and updates. Record different management levels before comparing budgets.
Five products to investigate
| Starting point | Investigation | Inclusion basis |
|---|---|---|
| Runpod Pods | Your managed GPU environment | Explicit documented GPU launch path |
| Nebius Compute | VMs and clusters | AI-workload infrastructure |
| AWS EC2 | Suitable instance family | GPUs within a broad ecosystem |
| Google Compute Engine | Configurations and restrictions | Regional infrastructure scenarios |
| Azure NC-family | Compute VM series | GPUs within existing Azure processes |
This is not the entire market. Real products help test criteria rather than assign a blanket quality score to categories.
Start with existing dependencies
If data, networking and access already share a cloud, estimate retaining or changing that setup. Migration may be justified but requires whole-application testing. Faster computation does not always reduce user waiting.
With fewer dependencies, comparison can be more flexible. Yet an easy first launch is not easy regular updating. Have the team repeat deployment and diagnosis to assess operations, not just a demonstration.
Run a bounded paired test
Choose a suitable offer from each category, preserving model, weights and requests. Compare quality, latency, recovery, expenses and manual specialist work.
Make unresolved questions the next stage. Multiple nodes add architecture and network checks. A model or client constraint should not automatically trigger a provider change for every problem.
Relate the choice to your pool
Cloud research can identify machines and procedures needed by an owned service. Retail rates neither set private-GPU payment nor confirm token demand.
Review buying versus renting and shortlist methodology.
