Deploying a GPU VM on Cloud.ru Evolution

In this article
THE QUICK TAKE

A successful Evolution GPU deployment needs compatible compute, image, storage and access together. A listed accelerator does not guarantee immediate allocation.

Cloud.ru Evolution offers GPU virtual machines. For a first launch, select a supported model, flavour and GPU image, then configure network and SSH access through the current instructions. A model listed in documentation is not a guarantee of free capacity for creation, restart or restoration.

Identify the platform precisely

Read the Evolution GPU documentation rather than assuming Advanced instructions apply to it. Cloud.ru has separate platforms with different services and management workflows.

Record GPU model and count, vCPUs and system RAM. Device form, software compatibility and the application’s needs matter beyond a total-memory figure. Validate an alternative on a small workload rather than calling it equivalent because a catalogue number looks similar. Check the actual account and organisation’s access conditions before planning the order.

Follow the product’s deployment sequence

The guide describes zone, public GPU image, disks, GPU model and quantity, with CPU and RAM related to the chosen configuration. Use a small non-sensitive dataset while checking the first resource.

DecisionRecord
PlatformEvolution and intended project
PlacementVM zone and compatible dependencies
ImageGPU image or a verified alternative
DisksType, capacity and directory purpose
AccessOS user and public SSH key

Verify current starting conditions for the selected product. Do not transfer balance requirements from another Cloud.ru service or an older instruction without checking.

Prepare network and keys

Select the subnet and security groups for the required route. Outbound rules matter for data and dependency downloads as well. Opening every port is not a substitute for understanding the needed connection.

Add the public SSH key during creation as recommended. The guide describes different handling for keys on an already created VM, potentially requiring action inside the guest OS. Keep the private file local and verify the intended user before a long download begins.

Run a bounded control workload

Check accelerator discovery, read a small input and write a valid result. Record preparation time, then repeat from saved configuration before scaling. If capacity is unavailable, preserve the message and inspect supported alternatives.

Changing zones may affect disk and network dependencies. Keep image identity, user and placement explicit in the project recipe. Close with a result-copy method and a decision on each retained resource. An unavailable interface alone does not show that all charges have ended, and a working resource is not an automatically reproducible project without those records.

Turn the check into a practical next step

A successful Evolution GPU deployment needs compatible compute, image, storage and access together. A listed accelerator does not guarantee immediate allocation.
