Keep active-board power definitions and the separate vGPU lifecycle explicit.
NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 is assessed here as an exact Turing board configuration. Its published 48 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.
Exact model and memory variants
The active Quadro RTX 8000 has48 GB GDDR6 ECC. Its datasheet separates295 W total board power from 260 W total graphics power; the passive server card uses another envelope.
| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 | 48 GB GDDR6 ECC | 295 W | Active; Full-height dual slot |

LLM backend and memory budget
Turing remains above the current vLLM minimum, but verify backend precision and package support rather than assuming newer Ampere/Ada kernels. Used-card inspection and the usable memory budget precede serving claims.
Passing the architecture requirement does not certify every model, quantization kernel or prebuilt package.
Compatibility evidence: vLLM GPU requirements.
Cycles and batch rendering
First-generation RT cores support applicable OptiX rendering. Test the production scene and driver; multi-GPU scene memory requires explicit application support. In particular, using96 GB across two boards through NVLink requires that application support.

Integration into a server or workstation
Document the active cooler and the actual power-field definition. vGPU lifecycle is separate from bare-metal CUDA: the official support table lists branch19 as the last supported branch for this Quadro family.
A concrete qualification scenario
A used48 GB workstation arrives with an old software image. Inventory the device and firmware before updating anything. Run one saved model and one reference scene, retaining output checks and any device errors. If a virtual-workstation deployment is also proposed, qualify its supported software branch independently. A successful bare-metal render does not establish current vGPU release compatibility.
The evidence to retain
Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.
Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.
The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.
| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 48 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |
The passive8000 server record remains separate from the active295 W board, even when the same 48 GB model artifact completes.
