NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000: 16GB on the original Turing5000

In this article
THE QUICK TAKE

Retain the 16GB Turing identity and the distinction between board and graphics power.

NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 is assessed here as an exact Turing board configuration. Its published 16 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

Exact model and memory variants

Quadro RTX 5000 Turing is a 16 GB GDDR6 active dual-slot card. The individual datasheet specifies265 W total board power and 230 W graphics power.

LLM backend and memory budget

Turing remains above the current vLLM minimum, but verify backend precision and package support rather than assuming newer Ampere/Ada kernels. Used-card inspection and the usable memory budget precede serving claims.

Passing the architecture requirement does not certify every model, quantization kernel or prebuilt package.

Compatibility evidence: vLLM GPU requirements.

Cycles and batch rendering

First-generation RT cores support applicable OptiX rendering. Test the production scene and driver; multi-GPU scene memory requires explicit application support. Do not transfer results from 32 GB Ada 5000 or48/72 GB Blackwell 5000 merely because they share the 5000 number.

Integration into a server or workstation

A chassis power record must name the field it uses; 265 W and 230 W are not contradictory measurements of the same boundary. Keep the active dual-slot placement and operating-system display reservation with the exact Turing product identity.

A concrete qualification scenario

A render workstation is reassigned to a small inference experiment. Freeze the existing scene as a control and choose an independently qualified16 GB model case. Execute them sequentially, recording the memory released after each application exits. If a later5000 replacement has more memory, keep its new record separate. The old result remains useful only for the actual16 GB Turing environment.

The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

Evidence fieldWhat this profile must retain
Hardware identityNVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000; physical variant and reported device identifier
Memory boundary16 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading
Inference artifactExact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration
Render artifactScene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting
System envelopeDriver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration
Completion evidenceApplication exit status, output validity and observed memory failures

Keep265 W board power separate from 230 W graphics power when carrying the 16 GB qualification into another workstation inventory.
