A2000 is one model family with two explicit desktop memory variants.
NVIDIA RTX A2000 is assessed here as an exact Ampere board configuration. Its published 6/12 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.
Exact model and memory variants
Desktop A2000 has official6 GB and 12 GB GDDR6 ECC variants in the same 70 W low-profile dual-slot family. Neither should be inferred from laptop A2000 names.
| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA RTX A2000 6 GB | 6 GB GDDR6 ECC | 70 W | Active; low-profile dual slot |
| NVIDIA RTX A2000 12 GB | 12 GB GDDR6 ECC | 70 W | Active; low-profile dual slot |
Specifications: Official product/support documentation.
LLM backend and memory budget
Give6 GB and 12 GB separate weights, cache and runtime budgets. Shared Ampere architecture does not make a larger qualified configuration valid for the smaller variant.
Passing the architecture requirement does not certify every model, quantization kernel or prebuilt package.
Compatibility evidence: vLLM GPU requirements.
Cycles and batch rendering
Test RTX rendering with one common reference scene, then a separate larger-memory candidate. A6 GB capacity failure is not itself a speed measurement of the 12 GB variant.

Integration into a server or workstation
Both memory variants need two low-profile slots and the appropriate bracket. Preserve the delivered capacity from device enumeration rather than assuming the larger variant from a shared cooling shroud or model-family label.
A concrete qualification scenario
A compact workstation fleet mixes both capacities. Create6 GB and 12 GB resource classes in the evidence table. Test one small artifact on both, then a separately qualified larger case on the 12 GB board. Keep context fixed in the control comparison. For rendering, retain output validity and the exact failure stage on the smaller card; a loading failure and an out-of-memory frame are different observations.
The evidence to retain
Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.
Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.
The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.
| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | NVIDIA RTX A2000; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 6/12 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |
A common cooler housing cannot distinguish6 GB from 12 GB; retain the actual delivered device capacity before assigning the larger workload.
