NVIDIA Quadro P6000: 24GB capacity with legacy compilation

In this article
THE QUICK TAKE

The useful24GB Pascal profile includes its retained sm_61 software artifact.

NVIDIA Quadro P6000 is assessed here as an exact Pascal board configuration. Its published 24 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

Exact model and memory variants

Quadro P6000 supplies24 GB GDDR5X in a 250 W active dual-slot Pascal board. The capacity resembles newer RTX products, but its software path is different.

LLM backend and memory budget

PascalCC6.1 is outside current vLLM support. Evaluate quantized GGUF work with an explicit llama.cpp sm_61 CUDA12.x build, recorded driver and measured full/partial offload; capacity is not evidence of modern kernel support.

The current vLLM requirement is compute capability7.5 or higher; this architecture is below that floor.

Compatibility evidence: llama.cpp CUDA build configuration and the NVIDIA architecture matrix. The current vLLM capability floor excludes this architecture.

Cycles and batch rendering

CUDA/OptiX rendering is conditional on the verified Cycles5.2 requirements and actual scene fit. Pascal has no RTX RT cores, and GPU OIDN has a higher capability floor than rendering itself.

Integration into a server or workstation

Retain the original active dual-slot enclosure assumptions and the 250 W product limit. The driver/toolkit retention requirement is part of operation, not an optional note added after a generic container fails. Archive a rebuildable software definition.

A concrete qualification scenario

A studio compares keeping an existing P6000 with moving the same 24 GB task to RTX hardware. Start with the retained Pascal stack and one recorded artifact. Run the reference scene with a documented denoising path rather than assuming GPU OIDN. Keep compatibility outcomes separate from execution measurements on the newer card. Equal memory capacity does not authorize copying the newer runtime image to Pascal.

The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

Evidence fieldWhat this profile must retain
Hardware identityNVIDIA Quadro P6000; physical variant and reported device identifier
Memory boundary24 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading
Inference artifactExact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration
Render artifactScene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting
System envelopeDriver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration
Completion evidenceApplication exit status, output validity and observed memory failures

A24 GB modern RTX image may reject Pascal before weights load; keep architecture failure separate from any P6000 memory-capacity conclusion.
