GTX TITAN X Maxwell must retain GDDR5,12GB and the correct legacy architecture in its identity.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X Maxwell is assessed here as an exact Maxwell board configuration. Its published 12 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.
Exact model and memory variants
The Maxwell GTX TITAN X has12 GB GDDR5 and a 250 W reference specification. Pascal TITAN X and TITAN Xp names must not overwrite this older architecture identity.
| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTX TITAN X Maxwell | 12 GB GDDR5 | 250 W | Active reference design; Desktop PCIe card |
Specifications: Official product/support documentation.
LLM backend and memory budget
For Maxwell, validate the selected retained CUDA12.x stack on an actual quantized artifact. Current vLLM fails the architecture floor. AnotherTITAN with 12 GB does not imply the same kernels or build.
The current vLLM requirement is compute capability7.5 or higher; this architecture is below that floor.
Compatibility evidence: llama.cpp CUDA build configuration and the NVIDIA architecture matrix.
Cycles and batch rendering
Cycles needs independent CUDA/OptiX validation and a complete frame. Maxwell has no RTX RT cores; 12 GB does not imply GPU OIDN support. Retain the chosen denoising mode with the scene result.

Integration into a server or workstation
Identify the exact GTX TITAN X Maxwell product and its real cooling arrangement before installing a retained image. The 250 W reference field does not certify a modified used board. Preserve manufacturer markings and reported device identity rather than relying only on the largeTITAN label.
A concrete qualification scenario
A lab spreadsheet listsTITAN X12 GB without memory type or generation. Reconcile GDDR5 Maxwell against the received hardware before choosing a build. Run one bounded model/context case and a separate reference scene under the recorded compatible stack. Keep any Pascal comparison in a distinct record. The experiment prevents an ambiguous name from becoming a false software regression or a guarantee based only on 12 GB capacity.
The evidence to retain
Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.
Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.
The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.
| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X Maxwell; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 12 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |
GDDR5 Maxwell and GDDR5X Pascal can share a 12 GB headline; preserve architecture and memory type before selecting a retained inference build.
