NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER for LLM inference and GPU rendering

In this article
THE QUICK TAKE

The Ti SUPER has 16 GB instead of the ordinary Ti 12 GB; test additional headroom with specific context and scene assets.

Preserve both suffixes

The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has 16 GB GDDR6X and reference board power of 285 W. The ordinary RTX 4070 Ti has 12 GB, so incomplete naming can create the wrong task budget. An identical power figure does not make their capacities equal. The table describes one GPU and a reference design. The board manufacturer determines actual dimensions and cooling. Preserve full identity and the idle baseline before configuring a worker: additional nominal capacity does not guarantee that resident processes leave all of it available to a new job.

Treat context as a separate variable

Check vLLM requirements for the chosen release, dtype and checkpoint. Ada hardware eligibility does not remove particular kernel restrictions. A useful Ti SUPER corpus keeps the task constant while varying history length. Bound output beforehand and hold concurrency fixed. Record actual memory and terminal state. If longer requests fail, inspect KV cache and admission before changing weights. Moving from 12 GB to 16 GB can change the operating envelope, but its extent cannot be calculated as a capacity ratio without accounting for resident data and runtime allocations. Retain those components in the result.

Change scene composition deliberately

Cycles through CUDA or OptiX has its own driver and memory conditions. Preserve a base project, then add a predefined texture group without simultaneously changing every quality setting. This identifies which assets change the Ti SUPER memory footprint. Report host memory fallback if it occurs. RTX hardware tracing does not establish support in every renderer. Verify completion using logs and the image. The largest possible scene cannot be inferred solely from 16 GB, since preparation structures and other processes also consume device and host memory. The scene manifest is part of the acceptance boundary.

Admit work through a manifest

Associate each queued task with a model or scene version and an established context limit. Arbitrary parameters should not be accepted merely because the GPU name includes SUPER. Repeat validation when the manifest changes. Observe RAM, file caches and remaining engine processes, especially when switching inference and rendering. The 285 W figure does not measure complete job energy. A system budget includes other components, and cooling depends on the actual AIB board. A normal configuration should pass the experiment without forced clocks or disabling the device’s standard protections. Preserve installation conditions alongside workload settings.

Record the admission boundary

Present histories and scenes in a result table with exact manifest, success, rejection cause, peak VRAM/RAM and selected backend. If only KV footprint grows, adjust the inference budget; if textures are constrained, investigate render assets. An unsupported operation requires another diagnostic path even when memory remains free. This separation supports a factual RTX 4070 Ti SUPER role decision. It promises neither doubled context nor fixed gains over the ordinary Ti or a predetermined client count. Give each subsequent workload its own verification row rather than inheriting success from an earlier small example.
