Radeon PRO W7400 officially has 8 GB GDDR6 and 55 W board power. The complete PRO W prefix matters: matching RX 7400 numbers does not combine these products into one software profile.
Official variants and the memory boundary
The table follows AMD materials for this model. It describes dedicated device memory, not system RAM. A “not verified” entry preserves a source gap; a neighboring configuration cannot supply the missing specification.
| AMD variant | Dedicated memory | Board power |
|---|---|---|
| 8 GB | 8 GB GDDR6 | 55 W |
Establish the LLM software path
Radeon PRO W7400 is absent from the checked ROCm Core SDK 10.1.0 GPU list. Support for a neighboring model cannot be transferred through a shared generation or a similar name. For a separate experiment, the llama.cpp build documentation describes a Vulkan backend. That route requires a suitable driver, detection of the actual device, and validation of the selected GGUF; Vulkan in a specification does not establish that every operation works. Save tensor-placement logs and compare output with a reference run before concluding that the GPU is actually involved. This is not a claim of current official ROCm support for this card.
A practical scenario for this model
The practical case is executing a saved workload from a workstation background process. Establish that this actual environment sees the intended W7400 first: an interactive application and another user process can have different settings and access permissions. Preserve full device identity, the installed driver, and the compute-backend log. For an LLM, execute a fixed small request and establish actual placement rather than inferring participation from the OS adapter inventory. Correct output produced by the CPU does not establish a GPU role. Preserve that execution profile separately from the graphics application even when both run on one workstation and refer to the same 8 GB hardware capacity. The acceptance environment is the process that performs the task, not merely the machine containing the card.
Validate Blender Cycles separately
RDNA 3 meets the HIP hardware floor in the Blender Cycles 5.2 LTS manual: RDNA 1 or newer. This renderer requirement is independent of ROCm LLM support; validate the actual driver, build, and scene on the intended machine.
Complete a reference frame through the background launch method intended for subsequent work. Interactive scene viewing cannot validate another process environment.
Preserve a machine-level acceptance record
AMD defines a workstation deployment boundary: the relevant W6000/W7000 products and AI PRO R9700 are not designed or validated for datacenter use. Rack installation alone does not change that qualification.
Preserve PRO W7400, 8 GB, 55 W, and the process launch method. W7000 family membership or a functioning graphics interface cannot establish ROCm support.
The acceptance artifact should connect board identity, software versions, model revision, and the workload actually exercised. After any of those changes, the old result describes its original run rather than establishing compatibility of the new configuration.
