THE QUICK TAKE

Radeon PRO W6800 is an exact RDNA 2 model with 32 GB GDDR6 and 250 W, present in the current ROCm list.

Radeon PRO W6800 is an exact RDNA 2 model with 32 GB GDDR6 and 250 W, present in the current ROCm list. It must not be confused with consumer RX 6800 or mobile W6800M.

Official variants and the memory boundary

The table follows AMD materials for this model. It describes dedicated device memory, not system RAM. A “not verified” entry preserves a source gap; a neighboring configuration cannot supply the missing specification.

Establish the LLM software path

The ROCm Core SDK 10.1.0 device list includes Radeon PRO W6800. This is an exact hardware entry, not approval for every operating system, PyTorch build, or quantization format. Select the specific GPU and OS in the compatibility matrix, then record the driver, runtime, and framework release. A listed card does not establish that every kernel used by an inference engine works correctly. Establish device detection, loading of a saved model revision, and a reference request before exploring sustained operation or concurrent requests.

A practical scenario for this model

The scenario is updating the software stack on an installed professional workstation. Preserve the environment image, exact model revision, and reference inputs before the change. Afterward, validate W6800 detection together with previous placement, context, and required operation results. Successful installation of a new library cannot establish preservation of every old-profile property. Separate model-file, driver, and framework changes when investigating a difference so the check can be repeated with one variable. The complete W6800 name provides its exact support entry but cannot prevent engine behavior changing. For a workstation serving other graphics tasks, preserve a separate reference frame so an LLM-driven update does not leave an existing workflow untested. A reproducible update has evidence for both the new environment and the role it replaces.

Validate Blender Cycles separately

RDNA 2 meets the HIP hardware floor in the Blender Cycles 5.2 LTS manual: RDNA 1 or newer. This renderer requirement is independent of ROCm LLM support; validate the actual driver, build, and scene on the intended machine.

Preserve the original scene and complete its render after the update. Having 32 GB cannot replace checking materials, Cycles version, and selected compute device.

Preserve a machine-level acceptance record

AMD defines a workstation deployment boundary: the relevant W6000/W7000 products and AI PRO R9700 are not designed or validated for datacenter use. Rack installation alone does not change that qualification.

Associate W6800, 32 GB, and both environment images in the update record. AMD workstation deployment boundary remains relevant when the workstation is rack-mounted.

The acceptance artifact should connect board identity, software versions, model revision, and the workload actually exercised. After any of those changes, the old result describes its original run rather than establishing compatibility of the new configuration.
