Radeon PRO W6600: an 8 GB workstation and its 130 W specification

THE QUICK TAKE

Radeon PRO W6600 has 8 GB GDDR6, and the current official specification states 130 W board power.

Official variants and the memory boundary

The table follows AMD materials for this model. It describes dedicated device memory, not system RAM. A “not verified” entry preserves a source gap; a neighboring configuration cannot supply the missing specification.

Establish the LLM software path

Radeon PRO W6600 is absent from the checked ROCm Core SDK 10.1.0 GPU list. Support for a neighboring model cannot be transferred through a shared generation or a similar name. For a separate experiment, the llama.cpp build documentation describes a Vulkan backend. That route requires a suitable driver, detection of the actual device, and validation of the selected GGUF; Vulkan in a specification does not establish that every operation works. Save tensor-placement logs and compare output with a reference run before concluding that the GPU is actually involved. This is not a claim of current official ROCm support for this card.

A practical scenario for this model

The practical case is an inventory power number disagreeing with the dedicated AMD page. Preserve each source and identify the boundary being specified or measured: board, GPU, or complete computer. The verified board field here is 130 W; an external meter observation is another quantity and should not replace that specification. Independently validate the chosen model execution route and placement within 8 GB. Even a correct hardware table cannot establish that a professional graphics driver supports every LLM operation. The acceptance artifact should therefore have separate sections for board identity, software route, and actual system measurement. This separation corrects the input data without creating new performance promises or confusing a manufacturer specification with an observed workload result.

Validate Blender Cycles separately

RDNA 2 meets the HIP hardware floor in the Blender Cycles 5.2 LTS manual: RDNA 1 or newer. This renderer requirement is independent of ROCm LLM support; validate the actual driver, build, and scene on the intended machine.

Validate the Cycles HIP route and a completed frame independently. That result informs the W6600 graphics role but cannot establish token throughput or support for arbitrary models.

Preserve a machine-level acceptance record

AMD defines a workstation deployment boundary: the relevant W6000/W7000 products and AI PRO R9700 are not designed or validated for datacenter use. Rack installation alone does not change that qualification.

Preserve 8 GB, official 130 W, and the boundary of any separate system measurement. Keep the complete PRO W6600 name when transferring the profile so an abbreviated inventory cannot restore the error.

The acceptance artifact should connect board identity, software versions, model revision, and the workload actually exercised. After any of those changes, the old result describes its original run rather than establishing compatibility of the new configuration.
