256GB expands the memory budget; the 1000W OAM and software configuration still need their own qualification.
AMD Instinct MI325X is assessed here as an exact CDNA 3 board configuration. Its published 256 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.
Exact model and memory variants
MI325X provides256 GB HBM3e in a 1000 W CDNA3 OAM accelerator. Increased residency capacity does not make its installation interchangeable with MI300X.
| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| MI325X OAM | 256 GB HBM3e | 1000 W | Server-platform cooling; OAM accelerator |
Specifications: Official product/support documentation.
LLM backend and memory budget
Evaluate256 GB with exact weights, context, cache and runtime. Against MI300X, retain identical input artifacts and batching. Capacity is not a measured inference-speed ratio.
A ROCm support entry does not certify every inference engine, model kernel or quantization format.
Compatibility evidence: ROCm compatibility matrix.
Cycles and batch rendering
CDNA3 does not automatically satisfy the RDNA requirement of standard Cycles HIP. Preserve that rendering boundary instead of promising eligibility from HBM3e capacity. Another renderer needs its own documented compatibility.

Integration into a server or workstation
The 1000 W OAM envelope must be matched to the supported host cooling and power configuration. Retain the server platform version and per-device identity. A mechanically similar module is not sufficient evidence that another server generation can accept this accelerator safely and correctly.
A concrete qualification scenario
An evaluation compares a 192 GB MI300X case with MI325X 256 GB. Reuse the same model/context as a control before exploring a larger candidate artifact. Keep software versions and batching explicit. A new workload that only fits the larger budget gets a separate record, not a rewritten control result. Preserve host cooling configuration and output validation so capacity eligibility remains distinct from throughput and platform qualification.
The evidence to retain
Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.
Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.
The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.
| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | AMD Instinct MI325X; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 256 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |
A larger256 GB candidate is a different workload case; it must not overwrite the common control used for the MI300X comparison.
