NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 Passive PCIe Server Card is assessed here as an exact Turing board configuration. Its published 48 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

## Exact model and memory variants

The passive Quadro RTX 8000 server card has48 GB GDDR6 ECC and 250 W total board power. Its dual-slot server form differs from the active workstation SKU.

| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 Passive PCIe Server Card | 48 GB GDDR6 ECC | 250 W | Passive; chassis-provided bidirectional airflow; 4.376 x 10.5 in; dual-slot server PCIe board |

Specifications: [Official product/support documentation](https://www.nvidia.com/content/dam/en-zz/Solutions/design-visualization/quadro-product-literature/NVIDIA-Quadro-RTX-8000-PCIe-Server-Card-PB-FINAL-1219.pdf).

## LLM backend and memory budget

Turing capability permits current vLLM in principle; test the actual runtime and model. PCIe identity, power connector and passive thermal design must match the server independently of CUDA capability.

Passing the architecture requirement does not certify every model, quantization kernel or prebuilt package.

Compatibility evidence: [vLLM GPU requirements](https://docs.vllm.ai/en/stable/getting_started/installation/gpu/).

## Cycles and batch rendering

RTX batch-render candidate in an appropriate server. No physical display outputs and historical vGPU requirements must not be conflated with the separate question of bare-metal headless Cycles.

[Blender 5.2 LTS GPU rendering manual](https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html).

## Integration into a server or workstation

The passive cooler relies on chassis-provided airflow; this server board supports the documented airflow directions. The [vGPU lifecycle table](https://docs.nvidia.com/vgpu/gpus-supported-by-vgpu.html) identifies branch19 as the last supported branch, independently of bare-metal CUDA qualification.

## A concrete qualification scenario

A refurbished server arrives with passive8000 boards and no local monitor connectors. Verify the board identity and chassis airflow before the first model load. Run a complete headless render only after device enumeration identifies the selected backend. Keep the server-card record separate from a previous active8000 workstation test; identical48 GB memory does not transfer cooling or power qualification.

## The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 Passive PCIe Server Card; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 48 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |

A passive8000 removed from its server loses the previously qualified airflow context; the 48 GB capacity alone cannot restore that context.
