NVIDIA Tesla P4 is assessed here as an exact Pascal board configuration. Its published 8 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

## Exact model and memory variants

P4 has8 GB GDDR5 in a passive low-profile Pascal server design. Its documented50/75 W settings are installation conditions, not a universal whole-server power measurement.

| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| P4 | 8 GB GDDR5 | 50/75 W | Passive; Low-profile PCIe server card |

## LLM backend and memory budget

Despite historical inference positioning, Pascal fails the current vLLM floor. For8 GB, validate a small GGUF and exact sm_61/CUDA12.x build with explicit complete or partial offload.

The current vLLM requirement is compute capability7.5 or higher; this architecture is below that floor.

Compatibility evidence: [llama.cpp CUDA build configuration](https://github.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp/blob/master/ggml/src/ggml-cuda/CMakeLists.txt) and the [NVIDIA architecture matrix](https://docs.nvidia.com/datacenter/tesla/drivers/cuda-toolkit-driver-and-architecture-matrix.html).

## Cycles and batch rendering

For Cycles, separately validate scene residency and a compatible backend. There are no RTX RT cores; denoising must match the architecture rather than an assumption from historical inference marketing.

## Integration into a server or workstation

Preserve the selected power setting and low-profile passive airflow path. Verify the actual host configuration rather than attaching a generic desktop cooling assumption. A small board still needs a compatible retained driver and an independently validated renderer environment.

## A concrete qualification scenario

An edge host with a P4 is considered for an educational small-model case. Start with a tiny fixed artifact, retain the pre-load memory baseline and record partial offload if used. Run a separate small scene after inference exits. If runtime initialization fails, preserve that stage before adjusting model size. The record distinguishes the 8 GB boundary, configured power and software compatibility without inventing a general throughput claim.

## The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | NVIDIA Tesla P4; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 8 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |

A partial-offload P4 result must retain its CPU contribution and selected50/75 W mode rather than masquerade as full-device GPU execution.
