`trust_remote_code` allows a loader to use Python implementation code from a custom model repository. Treat that permission separately from trust in weight files. Pin a revision, inspect code and dependencies, then validate local loading. A commit pin makes the reviewed version reproducible; it does not itself prove safety. Review this boundary before enabling the flag in repeatable deployments.

## Establish why custom code is needed

The [model-loading guide](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/en/models) describes custom loading and recommends a specific revision. Determine whether the checkpoint needs a custom architecture or is directly supported by the installed library. Do not enable repository-code execution automatically in every launch template. A model using a built-in implementation has a different loading contract. Record the reason for choosing the custom path and the supporting instruction, so another operator knows which component required repository execution and why it belongs to the release.

## Inspect the code boundary

The [custom-model documentation](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/en/custom_models) explains architecture registration and configuration-to-implementation relationships. Review imported modules and declared dependencies, including initialization behavior and additional resource access. This is a review of a particular package, not a promise that reading one file eliminates all risk. Preserve the reviewed revision and findings. Validating weights is insufficient for the Python path: safetensors concerns tensor serialization and does not prevent a separately authorized custom-module import. Keep those trust decisions distinct in the record.

## Create a review artifact

Record repository commit, custom modules, dependencies, expected imports, and justification for the flag. Add a reproducible local-load scenario with a synthetic request. If code and weights come from different locations, preserve both identities and the pinning mechanism supported by the loader. One generic revision string does not automatically identify every external dependency. The artifact reproduces the decision; it is not a formal safety certificate for the complete environment or a replacement for reviewing installed packages and their origins.

## Review updates through diffs

Inspect custom-module changes separately from tensor-file changes when moving commits. New configuration can select a different implementation without changing the public model name. Repeat functional fixtures and retain the effective class or path where observable. If an import needs a new dependency, verify its intended source before installing an arbitrary similarly named package. Changes to the dependency graph should be visible release actions rather than hidden reactions to successive startup errors. Keep the old reviewed configuration available for comparison.

## State the conclusion's limits

Preserve reviewed code revision, model revision, dependencies, and loading procedure. Identify what was inspected and which execution conditions were tested. Pinning does not eliminate every vulnerability; it fixes a source for investigation and reproduction. Restore the agreed set during rollback, not weights alone. The record separates provenance, integrity, and execution permission. Successful generation cannot establish repository safety, and a loader suggesting `trust_remote_code` does not automatically justify executing every unfamiliar architecture. The decision should remain explicit and tied to the reviewed artifact.
