## A new architecture with a defined capacity

The desktop RTX 5080 is a Blackwell GPU with 16 GB GDDR7 and reference board power of 360 W. Unlike the RTX 5090 with 32 GB, it has less space for a resident task; citing a newer Tensor Core generation cannot compensate for that difference. The table describes memory per GPU. It does not report the remainder after display use, the driver and other processes. Before testing, record the exact AIB model, idle available memory and mechanical installation conditions. Calculate total system power separately from the board specification shown here.

| Official variant | Memory per GPU | Memory type | Board power | Evidence |

## Test context separately from weights

The [vLLM hardware floor of CC 7.5](https://docs.vllm.ai/en/latest/getting_started/installation/gpu/) does not replace checking a specific Blackwell build. Choose a supported model and retain engine version, dtype, weight format and the selected attention backend. Run requests with progressively changed context while holding concurrency fixed. When work stops fitting, distinguish weights, KV cache and temporary allocations first. Changing quantization is another experiment requiring quality checks rather than a guaranteed way to preserve the previous result. A 16 GB card can serve a bounded workload, but the model size in its name does not establish an operational limit by itself.

## A Cycles scene uses memory differently

The [Blender documentation](https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html) describes CUDA, OptiX, driver conditions and behavior when GPU memory is insufficient. Test the RTX 5080 with a scene reflecting actual textures and geometry rather than only a small demonstration file. Measure preparation and rendering phases separately. Near the capacity boundary, investigate possible use of system RAM and its host impact. RT Cores do not guarantee identical support for every material or external renderer. Accept the result using the image, backend log and reproducible parameters rather than successful access to the Blender interface.

## Define work admission

A server with an RTX 5080 can test a sequential frame queue alongside a separately launched inference service. Express memory limits through task ownership: engine residency, scene requirements and confirmed resource release. Do not reserve every presumed free byte solely from the specification table. Observe RAM, file reading and cooling for the actual board as well. If two processes launch together, explicitly examine that combination. Successful isolated runs do not establish that the pair can coexist or preserve the service's original latency. Queue policy should reflect the measured operating envelope instead of a broad capability label.

## Decide from a workload file matrix

The verification package contains several predefined prompt lengths and a scene with pinned assets; choose parameter values before execution. For each row, retain success status, maximum VRAM, host RAM and failure reason. If only the scene fails to fit, adjust its assets or queue without blindly reducing LLM context. If only inference is constrained, inspect its runtime and settings. This branch supports choosing a specific RTX 5080 role. The matrix is not a universal Blackwell ranking and does not convert reference 360 W into measured request energy or cost.
