## Separate retail variants and OEM

NVIDIA lists the RTX 3050 with 6 GB and 8 GB GDDR6. Reference board power is 70 W and 130 W respectively. An official footnote also identifies an 8 GB OEM variant with different compute specifications; its exact board power is not verified here. Do not replace unknown data with retail power. The table concerns memory per GPU. A 3050 name alone is insufficient for job placement or chassis selection. Preserve the exact board, documentation, dimensions and power interfaces before treating one variant's low specified draw as a universal property of the model. Keep OEM identity explicit.

| Official variant | Memory per GPU | Memory type | Board power | Evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 — 8 GB reference | 8 GB | GDDR6 | 130 W | [Specification](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/compare/) |
| NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 — 6 GB | 6 GB | GDDR6 | 70 W | [Specification](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/compare/) |
| NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 — 8 GB OEM | 8 GB | GDDR6 | Not verified | [Specification](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/compare/) |

## Bound the LLM experiment beforehand

The [vLLM documentation](https://docs.vllm.ai/en/latest/getting_started/installation/gpu/) covers hardware minimums and installation rather than certifying every checkpoint or kernel on Ampere. Choose a bounded RTX 3050 workload with fixed context and output. If it does not fit, investigate weights, KV cache and temporary structures separately. [llama.cpp CUDA](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp/master/docs/build.md) offers another path with explicit layer placement and host RAM accounting. Do not describe that result as fully GPU resident or automatically suitable for a general serving pool. Give a small task its own quality check; successfully reading a model file does not establish a working API. Preserve actual execution settings with the result.

## Fit the scene to the actual budget

Use [Cycles CUDA or OptiX](https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html) in a supported Blender and driver environment. On the 3050, test a saved small project with known textures and geometry, actual GPU selection and a complete image. Host RAM use is another mode rather than extra VRAM. Supporting backends use RTX hardware tracing without certifying every external renderer. Do not change assets and card simultaneously when comparing variants. Missing project files cannot be explained by GPU capacity. Local fit and output quality should remain separate acceptance fields. Keep logs and the project package available to reproduce the specific path.

## Low power still needs installation checks

The 6 GB variant's separate 70 W specification matters, but verify slot and chassis suitability using board and server documentation. Do not borrow retail 8 GB or OEM rules without checking them. Whole node supply includes CPU and storage, while cooling depends on design. Record driver, image and device identity. Check remaining processes and resident weights between tasks. CPU offload also requires the queue to account for RAM and processor resources alongside the GPU. Normal testing needs neither forced overclocking nor clock changes or disabled protections to bypass observed environment limits. Resolve installation uncertainties through evidence first.

## Record a limited-use envelope

The record contains the exact 3050 variant, sources, selected LLM and scene manifests, status, VRAM/RAM and failure reasons. If an 8 GB job reaches a 6 GB worker, inspect inventory and scheduling. If a model is unsupported despite free memory, inspect the backend. Leave OEM power unknown until a primary source establishes it. The result defines a modest but verifiable operational envelope. It promises neither arbitrary small LLM fit nor every scene's rendering or economic advantage from one watt figure. Preserve limitations alongside the successful example for later reproduction and review rather than broadening the claim to the whole family.
