# GPU Cloud Credits Expiring Soon: Plan a Useful Pilot

Use expiring GPU cloud credits for a bounded, eligible experiment while checking account rules, service coverage and costs outside the credit.

When GPU cloud credits are close to expiry, first verify their remaining value, eligible services and end date. Then choose an experiment that can produce a useful result within those limits. A large credit balance does not guarantee access to a suitable GPU or coverage of every related charge.

Treat the credit as a programme-specific resource, not cash available for arbitrary equipment purchases or transfer to an operator.

## Confirm the actual credit details

AWS Billing documents credit status, applicable products, account ownership and expiration. Use the equivalent records for your own programme rather than assuming AWS rules apply everywhere. Preserve the date of the check and distinguish a final balance from a current estimate.

Check GPU availability and quotas separately. Eligibility for a service and permission to launch the desired configuration are different questions. Keep any unanswered support request linked to the experiment plan.

## Keep credits separate from transferable equipment

AWS Promotional Credit terms describe restrictions on the instrument's use. They should not be interpreted as permission to sell unused credit or hand an account to another party. Any authorised organisational sharing follows its specific rules.

| Resource | What to verify | What not to assume |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cloud credit | Eligible charges and expiry | Cash-equivalent value |
| Cloud account | Authorised users and controls | Free transfer to an operator |
| GPU instance | Quota and actual availability | Guaranteed launch capacity |
| Physical GPU | Ownership and operating conditions | Coverage by a cloud credit |

This distinction helps an organisation discuss participation without confusing several fundamentally different resources.

## Choose a result before choosing a run

A bounded objective might be a reproducible benchmark, a small data-processing result or a comparison on an approved dataset. Define the output, responsible person and stop condition. Merely consuming the balance before expiry does not demonstrate value.

Schedule time for environment preparation, validation and result transfer. A job that finishes after the credit expires may create charges outside the planned coverage, depending on the programme and service.

## Budget uncovered expenses

List storage, traffic, support and any other charge separately. Confirm coverage for each instead of treating an eligible compute service as proof that the whole workflow is covered. Agree on the account's authorised spending and shutdown procedure.
