AMD Instinct MI300X is assessed here as an exact CDNA 3 board configuration. Its published 192 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

## Exact model and memory variants

MI300X is a 192 GB HBM3 CDNA3 OAM accelerator with a 750 W envelope. Its dedicated GPU memory differs from the shared CPU/GPU memory organization of MI300A.

| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| MI300X OAM | 192 GB HBM3 | 750 W | Server-platform cooling; OAM accelerator |

Specifications: [Official product/support documentation](https://www.amd.com/en/products/accelerators/instinct/mi300.html).

## LLM backend and memory budget

For gfx942, freeze the supported ROCm build, weights and context. Memory across a multi-module node is not one automatically available process allocation. Validate cross-module collectives separately from loading one GPU.

A ROCm support entry does not certify every inference engine, model kernel or quantization format.

Compatibility evidence: [ROCm compatibility matrix](https://rocm.docs.amd.com/en/latest/compatibility/compatibility-matrix.html).

## Cycles and batch rendering

Large CDNA3 memory does not establish standard Cycles HIP support. The published path requires RDNA1 or newer. Successful inference or a HIP compute test does not certify this accelerator for a selected renderer.

## Integration into a server or workstation

The OAM must be part of a supported server platform, including its power, cooling and interconnect arrangement. Keep per-module identity and device enumeration in the deployment record. Do not substitute the MI300A host-memory description for the 192 GB dedicated GPU budget.

## A concrete qualification scenario

A serving configuration uses several MI300X modules and advertises only aggregate node memory. Rewrite the evidence as per-device192 GB capacity with explicit process ranks. Qualify one saved model/context first, then the intended distributed arrangement and communication behavior. Preserve the actual allocations on each device. A model larger than one device needs a demonstrated distribution strategy rather than a claim derived from adding module capacities.

## The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | AMD Instinct MI300X; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 192 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |

A node-level sum cannot replace per-device192 GB allocations when deciding whether a particular model uses distribution, replication or one GPU.
