AMD Instinct MI210 is assessed here as an exact CDNA 2 board configuration. Its published 64 GB capacity is the starting point for a workload qualification, not a measured serving or rendering result.

## Exact model and memory variants

MI210 provides64 GB HBM2e on a 300 W passive PCIe CDNA2 server card. It is a different deployment from the two-GCD MI250 OAM module.

| Variant | Memory | Published board power | Cooling / format |
|---|---|---|---|
| MI210 PCIe | 64 GB HBM2e | 300 W | Passive; PCIe server card |

## LLM backend and memory budget

For gfx90a, validate supported ROCm versions and required model operations.64 GB contains weights, cache and runtime. Multiple cards also require recorded process ranks, communication and actual topology.

A ROCm support entry does not certify every inference engine, model kernel or quantization format.

Compatibility evidence: [ROCm compatibility matrix](https://rocm.docs.amd.com/en/latest/compatibility/compatibility-matrix.html).

## Cycles and batch rendering

Compute-oriented CDNA2 does not become RDNA because HIP is available. Standard Cycles5.2 HIP requirements start at RDNA1, so MI210 ROCm eligibility does not certify that batch-render path.

## Integration into a server or workstation

Validate the PCIe server slot, supported power connection and passive airflow before the model benchmark. If multiple MI210 cards are linked in a proposed configuration, retain the actual topology and communication test separately from the single-device64 GB baseline.

## A concrete qualification scenario

An operator migrates a model experiment from a shared research node to a PCIe MI210 host. Reproduce the supported gfx90a software stack and run a single-device control first. Add distributed execution only with explicit process mapping and observed allocations. For a proposed render workload, document the Cycles RDNA boundary instead of treating a successful HIP compute test as renderer certification. The evidence distinguishes physical PCIe deployment from an OAM assumption.

## The evidence to retain

Keep an ordinary qualification record with the actual test outputs.

Identify the tested variant, software build and execution mode before entering observations. Leave unavailable measurements explicitly unknown.

The fields below separate published specifications from observed allocation and job completion, so a later operator can repeat the same case.

| Evidence field | What this profile must retain |
|---|---|
| Hardware identity | AMD Instinct MI210; physical variant and reported device identifier |
| Memory boundary | 64 GB published; observed free memory before and after loading |
| Inference artifact | Exact weights digest, quantization, context and offload configuration |
| Render artifact | Scene digest, renderer version, backend and denoising setting |
| System envelope | Driver, container/build digest, enclosure and cooling configuration |
| Completion evidence | Application exit status, output validity and observed memory failures |

PCIe MI210 and OAM MI250 need distinct integration records even when the observed device memory domain is 64 GB in both cases.
